LO1 - Game analysis form - Skyrim
Skyrim is a fantasy game and the genre is an open world sandbox. It shows conventions of the genre as it has a very large game world for the character to explore and features an in depth levelling system. It sits in well compared to other games in the genre such as GTA and Fallout, it is considered to be one of the best ever made.
The narrative of Skyrim is that the long forgotten dragons are returning to Skyrim and after discovering that you are the dragon born you must stop the dragons from destroying all of tamriel. The story offers unique character interactions so you can talk to anyone the way you want which can make your playthrough feel very unique.
Bethesda game studios on their creation engine developed the game. Elements of production can be seen within the game as it features a weather system and dynamic lighting. Also the world is very expansive and can take hours to discover everything within the world.
Characters are relevant to the audience by the way you interact with them which is complete your choice. They all have their own lore behind them as well and have unique personalities to them, which make main characters more relevant to the player. The characters match conventions of the genre as they are based on traditional fantasy characters such as mages or warriors.
The challenge in the game is the enemies as these can have a dramatic impact on your exploration throughout the world. The game also features many puzzles in dungeons, these can be very difficult to solve and take time to solve. The combat is key to the games success as this is a trademark of the elder scrolls series.
This game is available on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. The ui in the game is more suited to the console as it is easy to navigate with a controller. But with the use of mods on PC has a lot more replayablity and can fix issues with the game, add better graphics and add player created quests.
