LO2 - Comparison of written and online review

Comparison of written and online review of Halo Spartan Assault

Written review
The written review is very formal when compared to the online review it uses proper language to create an informative review going over some of the many features that are offered to the gamer are informs them on what they believe to be the intended target audience and if the overall product is worth the purchase. The writer says in his review that the genre of this game is a twin stick shooter. the story is stated as being rather bland and vague as it is only briefly touched upon before the start of each mission which is kept to a few lines of text. The reviewer does not directly talk about the production process of the game itself. He says that the characters are not very thought out and are very one dimensional as they do not have any unique traits that make them as memorable as past characters in the halo franchise. The reviewer states that the controls feel natural on a controller and the gameplay is fast paced and it keeps you coming back with a fun scoring system. He states that the target audience would preferably be fans of the halo franchise and of twin stick shooters otherwise he suggests to stay clear. The platforms he says the game is available on is Windows phones and tablets, Xbox 360 and Xbox one. The reviewers own personnel recommendation is that the game is not worth the price for the amount of content offered to the viewer and the micro-transactions are pointless and overpriced but its a decent twin stick shooter although it lacks  the longevity or depth to warrant the price.

The review i read was in the official XBOX magazine  issue 109 march 2014

Online review
The online review is a lot more informal as it uses chatty language to make an interesting watch but like the written review it does go over the many features that the game offers to the gamer. His commentary is very good to listen to and makes the video much easier to watch. He also states that the game genre is primarily a twin stick shooter. His approach to the storyline is very negative as like the written review he says it is very bland and not as well thought out as past entries into the halo franchise, his approach to characters is also negative as he says they are unrelatable and extremely bland. The reviewer claims that the developer has produced good games in the past but in this game the twin stick controls are very unresponsive and boring and missions don't offer enough variety to make them feel unique, therefore leading onto the point of there not being enough replay ability. The target audience is primarily only halo fans as the reviewer believes this fan base is the only one that may find enjoyment from it. The platforms its available on are windows phones and tablets, xbox 360 and xbox one. His personnel recommendation is that the game is not one worth picking up and is one to stay clear off.
